Gloria Delaneuf is well-versed in mime, mask, and the mysteries of stagecraft. Her UK tour manager Josephine Cunningham is not.

Together they have created Gloriator - an awe-inspiring production of bravery, honour, and costumes made out of cardboard.

Cllr Dawn Poole the council’s lead member for culture said:

“This will be another great free event hosted by the council for residents and visitors to Hastings as part of the Stade Saturdays programme.

“There will be two performances of Gloriator at the Stade Open Space on Saturday 18 June; the first at 5.30pm and the second 7.30pm.

“So if you’re up for a laugh come along, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed!”

Wonderfully inventive, physical, and very silly, Gloriator was created by French/English female comedy duo Spitz & Co. with the help of Spymonkey’s Aitor Basauri and Publick Transport’s Angus Barr.

It won the Critics’ Choice Award at Exeter Ignite in 2014 and was developed with support from the Arts Council England and Bristol Old Vic’s Ferment.

There is a full and varied line-up of Stade Saturday events, continuing weekly right through to October.

Stade Saturdays continue on Saturday June 25 at 6pm with a performance by Fumi Okiji’s Old Time Jazz Band.

They are a group of musicians hailing from Hastings and London performing tunes from early jazz with a coolness and virtuosity that is laid back, yet sets the pulse racing.

The band celebrates the great tradition of Jazz song and their repertoire consists of tunes from the early years of jazz’s inception up until the 1940s, taking in the blues, New Orleans, black vaudeville, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday.
