COMMUNITY NEWS & REVIEWS: MACMILLAN NURSES CHARITY 'COFFEE MORNING EVENT' A National ( & International ) fundraising event for this fantastic charity was held up and down the length & breathe of the country on Saturday September 29th with the view to not only raising as much money as possible to aid this worthy cause, but to also show our appreciation to the nursing staff - as well as all those '˜behind the scenes' so to speak, for all the hard work bestowed in such a caring manner, not only on the patients themselves, but to the families and friends that are also touched by these heart-breaking circumstances. The residents of Ewhurst Parish Community (and beyond) came out to support this event once again and showed their love and appreciation for all aspects of the amazing work and dedication undertaken by all at MacMillan Nursing. Staplecross Village Hall was the venue for last Saturdays fundraising event, ably hosted - as always - by Pauline Scowen and Anka Buss. Due to their unstinting determination to raise as much money as possible - despite Pauline herself only returning from hospital a few days beforehand - this event was another huge success. The amazing amount of just over £800:00 - excluding '˜Gift Aid'- was raised and will be presented to them in due cause. Pauline has expressed a wish to extend a big 'THANK YOU to all those who helped - contributed - went along or manned a stall. To Lesley George, Cheryl Moss, Marie Trimbrell, Ann Prodinger, Anne James, Brenda Dale, Sandra Smith - plus of course all those '˜invisible ones' who also helped - and especially Anka herself. Special Thanks must also go to (Pauline's) hubby - Brian Scowen - for setting out the hall and for being the '˜Top Notch Dogs Body throughout the whole organisation of this event. This event is a very important fund raising project for the Macmillan Nurses, as sadly at some stage in our lives, many of us our touched by this dreadful disease - or we know of people who have been affected, and all families need their
