STAPLECROSS M.C.P.SCHOOL: Tuesday November 18th is a “Phil the Bag” Collection day at this super little village school of ours. This is another ingenious idea in which to help supplement the P.T.F.A. funds and the notion works like this:- Bags will be available for the donation of all and any textiles, shoes and clothing. Fill them up, return them to the school where they will be weighed and then cash given in return. This cash then goes towards PTFA funds.-Brilliant idea, You get to de-clutter in time for Christmas and the School benefits with a little cash injection!. So please do what you can to support this clever little fund-raising event. Please contact the school on 01580~830256 or email [email protected] for all further information on how you can help with this project. A quick “Date for your Diary”: The annual School Christmas Tea and Fayre, will be held on Friday December 5th at the Village Hall in Staplecross. Lots of lovely Christmassy things will be available here, so put this in your diary and/or calender and make sure you come along. It promises to be great.!

STAPLECROSS LUNCHEON CLUB: How quickly the time flies as it’s that time of the month when friends and families of this lovely little social dining group will meet once more to enjoy another delectable meal in congenial company. Meeting, greeting and eating on Wednesday November 19th 12.30pm at the Village Hall in Staplecross, the members of this small, lively and very friendly social group will be sitting down to enjoy another delicious meal. Sadly our much loved chef June, has decided to hang up her apron strings and spoons and spatula’s as she’s recently been a bit poorly and has decided to treat herself to some well deserved rest and relaxation. Taking over this role in the kitchen, will be our new chef Wendy, who will be ably assisted by Maureen. On the menu for this month will be Liver & Bacon and all the trimmings, followed by Apple & Pear Tarte Tatin. Yummy !. This social club has very few rules- but sadly, it’s only open to people of a ‘certain age’ ( 50 years plus !) and who agree to come every month and pay £5:50 for this delicious 2 course, (plus coffee/tea) lunch,- how simple and reasonable is that? Another bonus is you don’t have to do any work here at all to enjoy this feast, - no peeling of the veggies and no washing up afterwards. To book your place, please contact Anka on 01580~830260 or Dennis on 01580~830816 who would both be very pleased to lay a place setting for you.

GARDEN SOCIETY: The Ewhurst, Staplecross & Bodiam Garden Society will be gathering at the Village Hall in Staplecross on Thursday November 20th at 7.30pm onwards when their A.G.M. takes place. This is quite a busy little society which although currently has rather a small membership, manages to pack a goodly amount into their ‘gardening yearly programme’. New members are always warmly welcomed as it is your local society, run by local people for local people (mainly). This year the society are also looking for an aditional member to join their committee, which over a course of a year help organise a great variety of speakers talking on a great variety of subjects for the enjoyment of all who attend. they arrange three horticulural shows in April, June and September, as well as several outings and the Christmas party. You don’t have to be an expert on everything horticulural with know-it-all answers at the end of your ‘green fingertips’,- just an interest in gardening and a wish to help more people enjoy this pastime also. The speaker for this months meeting is Maggie Whitaker, a very ‘hands on’ society member, who will be talking to us about “Britain in Bloom”. All the talks are free for members and a mere £2:00 for visitors and with special discounts and other benefits given to our members upon production of their membership card, now could be the perfect time to consider becoming a member of this friendly and very helpful gardening group. Please contact the secretary (Ruth) on 01580~831918 for more details.
