Do try to pop in and join us.

Returning from a brief sojourn at West Wittering, over the Easter period, I came across a notice outside a village pub ( where else?) which read, “Those that do wander, are not always lost!”, and that certainly applies to the members of the Rother Ramblers. This week, on Wednesday April 30th an 8 mile circular stroll is arranged around Brede High Wood, Cripps Corner and Sedlescombe, both areas lovely at any time of the year. Those wanting to see for themselves the spectacular scenery available, on this trip, should join with the others, when they meet up at 10.0am in the West car park of Brede High woods.(SatNav TN32 5RT) A picnic lunch is recommended and of course your doggy pal may accompany you. Please contact the ‘Walk Leaders’ - Rita & Clive on 01424~882674 for more details. Walk no:2 is both nostalgic and enticing, as it’s entitled “Searching for Bluebells” and surely no-one can dispute the magic of seeing the stunning effect, achieved from these humble, English spring flowers as they carpet our woodland floors with a sea of unending blue together with a heady scent that fills your nostrils’ that transports you right back to your childhood. To create your own magical memory join in on this 9 mile walk on Sunday May 4th. Meeting at 10.0am at Stonegate Railway Station (SatNav TN5 7ER) again a picnic lunch is suggested and of course dogs are permitted on this walk so they can enjoy them also. If you’d like to take part in this walk, please contact the ‘Walk Leader’ who is Adrian, on 01273~514336 who can tell you more about it.

Members of the Staplecross Bowls Club will see their fixtures soon to be coming thick & fast now as Spring really gets under way. Wednesday April 30th finds our local Bowls Club,(hopefully recovered from their heady “race night”) playing their first opponent, Herstmonceux in an away match. Saturday May 3rd 2.30pm. sees them playing Fairlight, at home in the Clubhouse in Northiam Road. They will be there again the following day, same time, when the team play Hawkhurst Club. Please stroll along and give them your support.

Our old friend, The Mobile Library, will once again be visiting us all on Thursday May 1st. Calling at Cripps Corner-on the car park at the White Hart Inn between 10.15 and 10.40am it will then, via Sedlescombe pop up at Staplecross, in Cricketers Field between 11.50am and 12.20pm. This van will then meander it’s way through Brede, Northiam & Bodiam to finish the day at Ewhurst Green between 3.40 and 4.10pm. Please make use of this wonderful service which is still one of the best facilities available for all people from all walks of life and covers such a vast range of subjects. A number of services all over the country, that perhaps, we take for granted, are being cut back or even cut out altogether through various reasons, ~ please don’t let our mobile library service be one of them. Remember the old saying ~ “ Use It, Or Lose It”.....so Please use it.
