Staplecross

Tomorrow afternoon (Saturday) at 2pm in Staplecross village hall, there is to be a Jumble Sale in aid of SCATS which is currently preparing for the annual pantomime in January. All donations gratefully received and may be left at the hall in the morning. If you are not able to deliver, then contact 830570 or 830245 for assistance. There will be all the usual stalls with ones for Christmas goodies, as well as a raffle.

Two festive parties next week, one for members of the popular U3A Battle and District on Monday morning in Battle Memorial Hall, and the other for Ewhurst and Staplecross Women’s Institute at the Church Room in Staplecross at 2.30pm.

It was not the best weather for young footballers on Saturday, but the Ewhurst United players beat their opponents Sandhurst Baptist in two matches. Dave Perkins said there were two good games, with a quarter of an hour between each for refreshments. In the first match Finlay Pilwall scored the only goal for the first match with Solomon Carey not only scoring the only goal in the second match, but was declared “man of the match” when in goal for the first match. Dave Perkins was very pleased with Saturday’s results and said Tom Saunders’ coaching had played a major part with plenty of practise at Staplecross after school.

Christmas seems to be approaching at a cracking pace and a popular date for diaries must be the Carols on the Green at Ewhurst Green, with mince pies and wine being served to aid the lifting of voices in the popular Christmas songs. The evening is due to start at 6pm.
