Last year saw £13,400 raised in Battle and District for the British Legion Poppy Appeal. Local organisers are sure this figure can be beaten in 2012 and poppies are now being sold door to door and in various locations throughout the country. Buying and wearing a poppy not only helps all those wounded in wars, including recent ones in Iraq and Afghanistan, but also those families devastated by their loss.
