Start of new hunt season

As the new season gets underway, there is a strong feeling of determination in West Sussex to keep the hunts together, to keep hounds alive and provide jobs for staff, acting within the law until it is overturned.

The opening meet of the Chidsdingfold, Leconfield and Cowdray Hunt took place at Petworth Park on Saturday with a turnout of 98 mounted riders and 200 supporters.

Hounds followed scent lines which had been laid out in the morning and there was no disruption.

For the Crawley and Horsham hunt, it was their second meet of the season at Dragons Green and they were plagued by hunt saboteurs, even though they were operating within the law, also using scent lines.
