The donation – for an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) – comes as part of a £100,000 funding project by the Sussex Heart Charity to install the life-saving equipment in public places.

The charity, which is making the investment to mark its 30th anniversary, is funding more than 50 defibrillators at Sussex railways stations and town centres.

The defibrillator arrived on March 1 and is among the first to be installed.

Another 10 machines will be installed on the Mainline West route by the end the month.

The charity says it is making the investment in order to help the 30,000 people who suffer from sudden cardiac arrest each year.

It also offers basic life support training courses to organisations and the general public – which can be booked online at www.sussexheartcharity.org, or by calling 01273 523028.
