"Stay cool"

Stay cool when the heat's on '“ that's the advice from West Sussex County Council Emergency Planners following the prediction tomorrow (Wednesday, July 19) of record temperatures.

Damien Adams, Head of Emergency Planning, said: "It is very easy for people to get caught out and become sunburned or dehydrated, which could lead to heat stroke.

"The country is currently on Level Three '“ Heatwave alert that means high temperatures for a period of time. So, we're urging people to follow a few simple guidelines:

Keep out of the Heat.

Keep covered.

Stay cool.

Drink regularly.

"The County Council has been preparing for heatwave conditions and has provided guidance to Schools, care homes and care providers and is ready to continue providing services.

"We are monitoring the state of the roads within the County to ensure the heat doesn't cause any problems and working closely with our partners, such as the NHS."
