The children enjoyed learning about what firefighters do and looking at all the different equipment the fire engines hold while at the fire station, in New Road, Midhurst, earlier this month.

The children also had the chance to spray water at all the cars with the hose.

But the highlight of the day for the youngsters was getting to sit in the fire engine, an opportunity which was offered to all the children in turn.

Staff said: “This outing gives the children a real insight into being a real firefighter.

“Thanks to Midhurst Fire Station for this great learning opportunity for all our children at Stedham Squirrels.”

Stedham Squirrels is a pre-school based at Stedham Primary School.
