'˜Stewpot' treat for charity diners in Steyning

RADIO and television personality Ed '˜Stewpot' Stewart is hosting this year's Steyning Safari Supper.

Steyning Friends of Chestnut Tree House found last year’s roaming three-course meal so successful, they are repeating it next month.

Diners will enjoy a starter at Chez Joel or the Cobblestone Tea Room, main course at the Sussex Produce Company and dessert at the White Horse.

Ed Stewart, who hosted Crackerjack in the 1970s and has his own Radio Two programme, will be be joining diners on the first sitting at Chez Joel, starting at 6pm, before continuing on the safari.

He will later move on to the White Horse, where he will be waiting to hold the raffle. This will take place at the end of each of two sittings for the dessert course, which run from 8.15pm to 9.15pm and 9.30pm to 10.30pm.

The three-course meal on Tuesday, October 8, is raising money for the children’s hospice, near Arundel.

A Chestnut Tree House spokesman said: “Steyning Friends of Chestnut Tree House first organised their interesting take on a three-course meal in October 2012, raising money for the only children’s hospice in Sussex.

“The event was such a success that they were asked to do it all again by the diners and restaurants and have been lucky enough to have BBC television and radio personality Ed ‘Stewpot’ Stewart host the evening for them.”

Diners will be using their navigational skills to complete the meal, negotiating their way along the High Street from venue to venue.

The event has again proven so popular, tickets have already sold out.

Each £30 ticket included a donation to the hospice.
