This followed the unveiling by the Princess of a commemorative stone to stage and screen legend Dame Anna Neagle and her husband, the award-winning film producer and director Herbert Wilcox CBE, who lived for many years at 18 Lewes Crescent, Kemp Town, Brighton, where a blue Brighton Corporation plaque now records their residence at that address.

Dame Anna is also commemorated on the Brighton Walk of Fame at Brighton Marina, and both she and Mr Wilcox have had their names on the front of Brighton buses.

Wendy Lovelock, who grew up in Saltdean, appeared with Anna Neagle in the 1964 stage thriller, Person Unknown.

Royal biographer Michael Thornton, presented Miss Lovelock to Princess Anne.
