Steyning Camera Club awards night

Steyning Camera Club combined its annual dinner with an awards night at Shoreham Airport.

A new event for this season, the presentation evening saw two new members win major honours in their first full year with the club.

Guest of honour was Walter Benzie, president of the Royal Photographic Society.

He said he was impressed with the high standard and found the club to be friendly and welcoming to new members.

New member Richard Hudson won three prizes, the Tony Knight Memorial Cup in the Open PDI Primary (Div 3), the Richardson Shield for Digital Image of the Year (Div3) and Bell Cup for Print of the Year Primary (Div 3).

Michael Palmer from Rustington, who was awarded the Royal Photographic Society Associateship in April, won the Harry Pierre Cup for the print panel competition.

Norman Atkinson from Littlehampton won the West Sussex Gazette Trophy for the Open PDI Advanced (Div 1) and the Steyning Digital Trophy for Digital Image of the Year Advanced (Div 1).

The Print of the Year Trophy went to Chris Barbara, while Jane O’Neill won the President’s Meritorious Shield in the Open Prints Primary (Div 3).

Clive Trusler, club chairman, thanked Mr Benzie for attending and wished all members a good break during the summer. He looked forward to seeing everyone in September on the new club night, which will be Monday.
