Steyning, Nuthurst, and West Grinstead parish councils have all bid for money from West Sussex County Council’s Operation Watershed fund, set up to alleviate flooding in the county.

West Grinstead has applied for £5,208 to clear a drainage ditch off the B2135 at Jolesfield Pond, and to desilt the pond.

Nuthurst Parish Council is bidding for £8,032 to carry out works to mitigate flooding in the village, while Steyning has asked for £2,246 towards drainage works at the junction of Dog Lane and the town’s high street.

The cabinet member for highways and transport, and the cabinet member for residential services, will now decide whether or not to award the money form the Operation Watershed fund.
