STOLEN LAPTOP '“ MAN ARRESTED

A MAN who returned a stolen laptop computer and claimed a £500 reward has been arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods.

The laptop was stolen on January 12 in a burglary at the home of Martin Spinelli of The Course, Lewes,

The laptop contained precious pictures of Mr Spinelli's late wife Sasha who was killed in a traffic accident in Kent on September 7.

It also contained vital medical information on Mr Spinelli's five-year-old son Lio who received brain damage and a serious leg injury in the same crash.

Mr Spinelli offered a 500 reward in a desperate attempt to get the laptop back; and on Tuesday night last week a man purporting to be a taxi driver returned it, saying he had found it in the back seat of his car.

Mr Spinelli wrote out a 500 cheque.

PC Duncan Ellison of Lewes police confirmed this week that a man had been arrested and bailed to mid-February.

An unconnected taxi company, Streamline 202020 of Hove, has offered to repay the reward money.
