Stolen motorbike pillion teenager seriously injured in Newhaven

A 14-year-old boy was seriously injured after falling from a stolen motorcycle on which he was a pillion passenger in Newhaven.

The driver of the machine ran away after losing control of it close to The Hope Inn in Fort Road just before 10pm on Friday evening (November 23) leaving his young passenger with multiple fractures to one of his legs.

He underwent surgery on Sunday and was expected to have a further operation today (Monday, November 26).

The motorcycle was ridden from the scene by someone else before being located by the owner who contacted police.

Police believe that there were a number of young people in the area at the time and are seeking witnesses to the collision.
