A van stolen from Newhaven has been recovered in Lindfield after its ‘tracker’ device activated.

On Tuesday morning (January 15) the owner of the Piaggio Porter pick-up van, which belongs to a poster advertising company, found that the vehicle had been stolen overnight whilst parked in Avis Way, Newhaven.

However its covertly installed electronic ‘tracker’ device had activated and the tracking company was able to say it was in Lindfield, near Haywards Heath.

After further enquiries the exact site was confirmed and on the following day officers went to an address in East Mascalls Lane and found the van.

A 31-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of theft. After interview she was released on police bail until March 18 while enquiries continue.
