Storrington Museum arts exhibit this weekend

I’m not sure where the idea to have an art show came from four years ago, but I do remember that we organised it with great trepidation because it was such an unknown quantity for the Museum.

It was the year the Museum re-opened after being completely refurbished by the volunteers and we were enthusiastic about appealing to a wider audience who wouldn’t necessarily be drawn to a Museum to see the usual display of artefacts.

The two Pro-am Art shows in February of that year attracted nearly 300 visitors and exceeded all our expectations.

Since then we have held a two-day show each November, and the support we receive from local art groups and artists, and the number of visitors who come to look and often to buy, makes it very worthwhile for Museum and artists alike.

We have refreshments both days, November 16 and 17, – hot soup and French bread and pies and salads, plus lovely cakes – everything is home-made and helps contribute to a very happy and convivial atmosphere which makes the weekend so enjoyable.
