Strawberry fair grows in popularity

Twenty years of strawberry heaven is being celebrated in Binsted.

The village near Arundel is hosting its 20th consecutive, old-fashioned strawberry fair on July 15.

The luscious fruit will be the main attraction of the afternoon event between 2pm and 4.30pm around the Flint Barn in Binsted Lane.

Delicious strawberry teas will be on sale along with homemade cakes and jams, ice cream and goods on various stalls.

Activities for children will include pets' corner, face painting, whack the bat, the human fruit machine and football penalty shootout.

Admission is 50p for adults and children aged over ten. Parking is free.Proceeds from the fair are distributed to three local charities.

The Friends of Binsted Church look after the 14th century village church and receives money from the fair each year.

This year's two other beneficiaries are the Sussex Snowdrop Trust and Mercy Ships which brings medical skills to developing countries.
