Street lighting team to address library meeting

The contractor involved in the replacement street lighting project for West Sussex will be providing an update to members of the West Crawley County Local Committee during its meeting next week.

SSE Contracting will provide a briefing about the project and respond to issues raised by committee members during the meeting, which will be held on Tuesday (January 14) at Crawley Library, starting at 7pm.

The briefing comes following concerns among members of the public about the ongoing scheme to replace street lights across the town.

Among other issues, the committee will agree highways priorities to be considered for inclusion in the Local Infrastructure Plan for 2016/2017.

Members will also consider five applications for Community Initiative Funding totalling £8,940.

These are from Relate North and South West Sussex, the Silver Birch Singers, the Broadfield Youth and Community Centre, the Crawley Young Persons Council and from the 2nd Ifield (St Margaret’s) Scouts.

Chairman Chris Oxlade said: “We look forward to listening to SSE Contracting about the streetlight replacement project as this has been raised as an issue of concern among members of the public.

“We would also urge any local organisation that requires funding to progress a community project to find out more about Community Initiative Funding.”
