STREETS AHEAD IN THE DISTRICT

Lewes District Council has moved with the times and with demand and has introduced two new sweepers to keep the roads of the district clean.

The council's waste and recycling team has waved goodbye to an old model that has served the district well over the years but has come to the end of its useful life.

The two new sweepers are provided with up to date equipment, including satellite positioning system vehicle tracking (to ensure all the routes have been cleaned), and air conditioning for the hot summer months. They have a much higher carrying capacity than the old machines (a pay load of 1,700 KG compared to the old machines' 900 KG pay load).

Residents will be seeing these new machines operating across the district and primarily in Seaford and Newhaven. Look out for models GN56DVA and GN56DVB.
