A fun dance-based aerobic workout programme created by retired ballerina and Strictly Come Dancing judge Darcey Bussell is set to launch in Horsham later this month.

Diverse Dance Mix (DDMIX), which will be run by local instructor Holly Gurney at Millais School every Wednesday at 7.30pm, is a new full-body aerobic workout based on a range of different dance styles with easy to follow steps.

The first class will begin on Wednesday June 29.

Darcey says: “DDMIX is ideal for both the very young which is why you’ll find it in schools through to adults who want to exercise in a fun, relaxed and entertaining way.”

With a love of dance and fitness sweeping the nation, thanks to hit TV show’s Strictly Come Dancing, Got To Dance, and Stepping Up, Darcey created the dance-based aerobic workout programme alongside leading choreographer Nathan Clarke to be a fun and entertaining way to stimulate the body and mind which is also suitable for everyone.

The aim of DDMIX is to get people moving without being intimidated by the word ‘dance’ or the technicality of the steps, but instead to give a full body workout that is such fun that you don’t even notice that you are ‘exercising’.

What sets DDMIX apart is the constant change of styles within one workout, alongside a soundtrack that has been especially designed for the genres.

Our 45-60 minute programmes are then designed with a combination of different aerobic levels and complexity that suit every level of fitness and ability.

With the vast number of dance styles around the world to choose from, no one will ever get bored!

Our existing genres include the 1960’s, Line Dance, Bollywood, 1970’s Disco, African, Greek and Scottish and many more – you will always find something to enjoy.

We are confident that DDMIX will be attractive to schools given the cultural diversity of the programs and the opportunity for students to learn whilst having fun exercising.

Darcey addeed: “I really enjoy working out when I am fully distracted by the fun and entertainment of the routine, great music and the camaraderie of a group class. This is the core philosophy behind DDMIX.

“As well as being fun and challenging, dance is quite simply one of the best forms of exercise reaching every area of the body.”

After a successful launch in London DDMIX is now being rolled out nationwide from September 2015.
