Striking images displayed at Littlehampton Academy

STRIKING self-portraits and perfectly captured moments were all on display, during an intimate art exhibition at The Littlehampton Academy.

A-level fine art, photography and graphics students from years 12 and 13 impressed visitors to the display with their colourful and vivid artwork.

Subjects ranged from melancholic and surreal landscapes, to gritty shots contrasting the bright colours of tropical fruits with a bleak and muddied background.

All the pieces on view had been created during this school year, in celebration of the academy’s newly-launched digital photography and graphics courses.

The school’s head of art, Gavin Austin-Woodward, said: “The work was of an impressive quality and the event was well attended by parents and supporters of the academy.

“This exhibition provides a superb real-life experience for young artists and is an integral part of the teaching of post-16 art and design.”

Many of the school’s talented artists are already looking forward to their next show, as part of the Littlehampton Arts Trail, in May.
