Strong show of support for new community hall

Hundreds of villagers showed their continued support for a new community hall in Barnham.

They turned out for this year's fundraising May Fair organised by the BLADE fundraising group.

Those who went along to the bank holiday Monday attraction had plenty to keep themselves amused.

They also helped to raise around 800 towards the long-standing goal of replacing the current village hall.

A structural survey in 2007 revealed it had just five years left as a usable building.

Plans are well advanced for a new community hall on Murrell's Field. Part of the open space was used for the May Fair.

BLADE chairman Janet Dalgleish said: "The fair went very well. It is one of our regular events which is growing every year. Hopefully, it will get bigger again next year."

The traditional attractions included a range of stalls from the likes of the local WI, Brownies and Rainbows and mother and toddler group.
