Aran Campbell, 14, took part in the sponsored 3.7-mile run along with 65 friends to remember his cousin Matt.

The boys, who all attend Brighton College, were running as part of a nationwide campaign #FinishforMatt which will saw thousands of people around the country running the distance of 3.7 miles, the exact amount Matt had to go before collapsing last Sunday.

Matt was running the London Marathon to raise money for children and young people’s charity The Brathay Trust and his JustGiving page has been flooded with donations. To date, more than £100,000 has been pledged.

The 29-year-old, from the Lake District, was well known to many after appearing on the BBC’s Masterchef: The Professionals last year.

Aran said: “Matt was an amazing chef and used to come and cook for us. I wanted to do something after Matt died and my mum had the idea that my school house, Aldrich, could join me in doing the run and we organised it from there.”
