Students get glammed up for end of year celebrations

A '˜spectacular' array of fancy frocks and fine suits were donned this month by leavers from Shoreham Academy for their school prom.

180 Year 11 students gathered at the Academy in Kingston Lane on Friday, July 8, before leaving for a special evening at the Hilton Avisford Park Hotel in Arundel.

The venue has a ‘traditional’ value for the school, with the proms being held there for the last few years, and students on arrival were able to relax as they were served soft drinks on the lawn.

After being greeted by staff, they then headed inside for a three course sit down meal and a night of dancing.

A spokesman for the Academy Staff Prom Committee said: “All of the students looked stunning, behaviour was impeccable and a good time was had by all. A truly fitting way to end Year 11. We were all extremely honoured to share this special evening with them.”

Harry Cork and Caitlan King were voted by the students as Prom King and Queen respectively by the staff and students, and Shoreham Academy PTA provided a beautiful diamond plaque for Harry and Caitlan to take away as a lasting memory of this honour.

Students also arrived in style to the event, with one group arriving in a horse and cart.

The academy also runs a sixth form college and is dedicated to being a ‘happy and welcoming community’.
