Students hit the road to show off their dramatic talent

YEAR 7 students at Westergate Community School have started a tour to showcase their production of Cinderella.

They began their two weeks on the road around the villages at Yapton Primary School.

The 14-strong cast of 11 and 12-year-olds were met with an enthusiastic reception from pupils from across the school.

Tracey Clayton, of Westergate Community School’s creative arts office, said: “The cast presented a musical version based on Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes re-telling of this well-known story.

“In this, the Prince turns out to be a nasty piece of work who chops off the Ugly Sisters’ heads.

“A requested encore of the finale had the Yapton children excitedly clapping along.”

Other primary schools being visited are Eastergate, Walberton and Binsted and Slindon.

The production was directed by Westergate’s performing arts teacher, Cheryl Williams, and co-ordinated by Rachel Ward, who liaises with primary schools in the area.
