STAFF and students from the Bexhill College Asdan Environmental Group, made a special trip to the Brownbread Horse Rescue Centre in Ashburnham to present a cheque from a recent fund-raising event.

Students raised the cash by holding a coffee morning with a ‘Fair Trade’ theme that included costumes representing various fruits. Student, Wai Wong came up with the idea to include the rescue charity in the funds raised,

Group leader, Victoria May, along with Sue Lockett, and Sheila Fawkes made the trip to the centre with six students and presented a cheque for £61.50 to the charities’ trustee, Tony Smith.

Despite the chilly weather Tony provided a tour of the centre. Everyone had the opportunity to see the horses at close hand and ask questions.

One student, David, even got over his fear of dogs and said he found the farm dog, Mollie, “so kind and gentle”.

The Rescue Centre will be holding an Open Day on May 15 - for further information call 01424 892381.
