Students win visit from TV dance duo

The performance and dance workshop by Twist and Pulse is the first prize which the Year 10 pupils, aged about 15, at The Regis School gained in a volunteering competition.

The competition – Agenda Skills Swop – was run by the national Abbeyfield charity with more than 500 supported houses and care homes to encourage the generations to mix.

Jess Rawlings, one of the students who took part, said he was stunned by their success.

“I was so excited I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. So, I did both.

“As I am taking GCSE dance you can imagine how amazing it is for me to have the opportunity to meet such a famous dance duo. I have watched them on TV many times and always admired what they do. I really can’t wait to meet them in person,” he said.

The Regis School partnered with the Abbeyfield based in Richmond Avenue after being invited by Margaret Crane, who chairs the supported house.

Abbeyfield house manager Alexis Webster said the students’ visit was one of her best mornings there since she began her job in 1996: “The students were really delightful and we are already planning to arrange more visits.”
