Success for Bexhill College BTEC students

Two former Bexhill College students have secured coveted sandwich year opportunities with Microsoft and L'Oreal as part of their degrees.

Alex Sloane and Jamie Wood both studied the BTEC National Certificate in E Business at Bexhill College. This course combines the development of ICT skills with those of business and this has paid off for these two students.

Alex is now studying BSc (Hons) International Business and Management at Aston University Birmingham. Alex studied at Bexhill College from September 2004 to July 2006. He passed the eBusiness National Certificate with Distinction, equivalent to two A's at A Level and A Level Business Studies with C grade.

His placement at Microsoft is during his sandwich year. Microsoft offer around 90 internships every year, with thousands of applicants from all universities around the country looking for a placement. To secure one, students have to show passion for technology.

Alex said that as part of the interview, "I tried to show a lot of interest in gaming and gave them a few of my ideas for marketing their games."

Jamie Wood, is studying BSc- Business Computing and IT at Aston University. Jamie is also in his sandwich year and also passed eBusiness with Distinction and Photography.

Jamie has been offered an internship at L'Oreal working in the supply chain department, for their professional products '“ which is all about getting the products and marketing materials etc. from A to B on time.

Jamie said "It's a really good opportunity as it is a balance between business and IT, and it's a really good salary and package too! So I'm looking forward to have some money after living on pennies at University."

Both have completed 2nd year at University now they will started their internship programme at the end of June.

Sam Dass, their eBusiness tutor at Bexhill College said "Alex and Jamie studied Internet Marketing and Supply Chain Management with me as part of their eBusiness course. Both were model students, very hard working and witty. They both deserve these fantastic opportunities. I am proud of them."
