Successful summer fundraiser

ST Richard's Catholic College recently held its annual PTFA summer fair which is a key fundraising event of the year.

Pupils and families supported the event enthusiastically by making sure there were great products and prizes on offer for stalls, tombolas and raffles.

Students were also involved in helping and running activities alongside members of the college’s PTFA, families and staff.

The rain held off for the crowd which made the most of the community atmosphere to socialise and enjoy all that was on offer.

Attractions this year included a ‘Gladiator Joust’, face-painting and a crockery smash alongside the ever-popular barbecue and range of refreshments.

Brenda Kent, vice-chair of the PTFA, thanked everyone who took part.

She said: “I would like to thank everyone who contributed by donating items, helping set up and run stalls, or by simply coming along to support.

“There was a wonderful sense of community spirit.”

An estimated total of around £4,000 was raised at the fair. This will enable the PTFA to buy extra items which will benefit pupils in departments and in extra-curricular activities.

Money raised last year enabled the college to purchase a new minibus, Apple Mac computers and playground equipment.
