Summer activities for kids in the great outdoors

NATURE-loving children and their parents looking for something different to try outdoors this summer can pick up a new 'Summer Activities For Kids' brochure courtesy of East Sussex County Council.

'Summer Activities for Kids' lists a variety of activities and outdoor events and was launched on 27th July with the 'Camber Castle for Kids' event.

Starting at Brede Lock, it provided a chance to explore the ruins of one of Henry VIII's castles, along with a walk through Rye Harbour Nature Reserve.

This was the first of over twenty similar events for those who love the great outdoors to be held over the summer holidays.

Other activities for children include treasure hunts, cycling around a lake, and finding out about local wildlife; including moths, bats, birds and bugs.

All of the events are led and arranged by County Council staff and it is hoped that the programme will encourage more families to get out and about and enjoy the countryside.

Councillor Matthew Lock, Lead Cabinet Member for Transport & Environment said:
