Summer Fete raises £4,000

A glorious sunny day was the perfect setting for St. Richard's Catholic College's annual PTFA Summer Fair.

The event raised 4,000 which will be used by the PTFA to buy extra items for youngsters both in and outside the classroom, and will also be put towards purchasing a new minibus.

Pupils and their families, staff, past pupils and members of the local community enjoyed the many stalls, attractions and entertainment on offer.

There was a lot of enthusiastic participation from the pupils in a football tournament and water balloon competition.

Other attractions for the youngsters this year included Bouncy Boxing, nail art and face painting.

Families have been generous and supportive in ensuring there was plenty of quality products and prizes on offer for stalls, tombolas and raffles.

Groups of pupils were involved in running activities along with members of the college's PTFA, staff, families and the wider school community.

Live music was provided by St. Richard's singers and musicians. Year 9 pupil, Issac Morrison, was also a huge hit in his role as compre throughout the fair. Refreshments available included a Pimms bar as well as teas, coffees, ice creams, cakes and a mouth-watering barbecue.

Brenda Kent, vice-chair of the PTFA, thanked everyone from the St. Richard's community as well as the many local businesses who helped to make the day such a great success.

She said: "Thank you to everyone for all their contributions to the Summer Fair. There was a lovely atmosphere...and a real sense of community spirit."
