Summer fun and flowers at Icklesham

Colourful exhibits were on display in the Memorial Hall while the Recreation Ground was alive with fun and entertainment.

Attractions included a fun dog show, ferret racing, dance displays, children’s games and races and a performance by Wealden Brass Band.

There were also crafts stalls, a licensed bar and barbecue and ice creams.

The Flower Show included categories for vegetables, cookery, handicrafts and floral displays.

Although entries in the flowers and vegetables were a little down, the cookery section was up.

Richard Sutar won three trophies, Judy Foster won two trophies and the Crystal for best loaf of bread, which was sponsored by Kate and Syd Mylrea.

Ann Osborne won two trophies. Simon Osborne won the Dahlia cup; Jean Ellner won both sweet pea trophies. Pam Lee won the floral art, and most points in cookery. Syd Mylrea got the Fred Stunt trophy.
