Summer garden party

HUNDREDS flocked to the Richmond and Heatherbank Methodist Home, Bexhill for their Summer Garden Party last weekend.

This popular event not only had plenty to keep people entertained with games such as 'play your cards right', a tombola and raffle with stalls selling jewellery, books, bric a brac and strawberry cream teas, but there was an added bonus for canine lovers with the opportunity to show off their beloved pets at a dog show.

This was the first time the home's manager Mrs Lois Blake has hosted this annual event having joined the staff last September. She said it was also the first time the home have held a dog show which had turned out to be, "very popular, especially with the people in the dementia centre as a lot of their families have dogs as do a lot of the staff; it was intended for everyone to have a bit of fun which I think they have."

Dogs of all breeds, shapes and sizes were proudly displayed and the winners were presented with rosettes along with prizes of donated gifts for the dogs.

Lois said that the day is organised by the support group who, "raise funds solely for the residents for extra things for them, for trips out, toiletries, Christmas and birthday presents and for the upkeep of their mini bus" and that she was, "delighted" that the sun was shining and with the amount of people who turned out to support the day.
