With only one-third of last year's budget the college worked with less staff, and with some financial help from the Sports College Funding as well as some assistance from PE staff and the scheme was pulled together and worked well.

The Summer School assists pupils who need a little extra help with their maths and also provides a link between primary school and secondary school education.

It also relates the mathematical content to real life and to fun activities. This year, in line with the college's specialist sports status, the links were with sporting activities.

Staff and pupils gave up the first week of their summer holiday and progressed through exercises in arithmetic, computing and sport. It was completed on the Friday afternoon with presentations by the Deputy Mayor, Bob Burnett.
