Bootworks re-created classic pop videos from their bicycle-mounted Jukeboxes, using props, wigs and amazing lip-syncing skills to transform themselves into celebrities past and present, from Elvis to Miley Cyrus.

Yeshe the Yak, a large, friendly Yak by Thingamajig Theatre, roamed the High Street with his handler, meeting friendly children who gently stroked his nose. Pirate stilt walker, Lily Fortune, mingled with crowds and the day was rounded off with the upbeat rhythms of local drumming group Drumskullz.

“It was family based and free – we loved the Jukeboxes and the stiltwalker,” said audience member Hayley, from Brighton.

Kerri Deeprose, who runs Battle’s Bull Inn, supports the event and said: “It’s great to have such high quality arts in the town for everyone at a fairly quiet time of year.

“The kids and the families really enjoyed the entertainment and the sunshine.”

Streets of Battle runs on the last Saturday of March, April and May and is funded by the Arts Council for a second year, following the success of 2016’s festival. Streets of Battle is organised and supported by local businesses and residents and produced by local events organisation, 18Hours.
