Sunflowers are blooming lovely in Bognor

UP to 55,000 sunflowers will bloom across Bognor Regis this summer to make it the town with the most sunflowers in Britain '“ as well as the sunniest '“ town.

A campaign launched by the Bognor Regis Regeneration Task Force in April has seen the initial target of more blooms than hours of sunshine '“ about 3,000 '“ smashed 18 times over.

A special email address '“ [email protected] '“ has been created to receive people's pictures of their blossoming plants.

They will be published online on the www.arun.gov.uk website so the world can view the town blooming.

Richard McMann, the head of the Bognor regeneration task force, has led the campaign. He said: "Please send in your pictures of sunflowers.

It's one thing to achieve this great record but we want as many people as possible to see these lovely sunflowers."
