Sunny afternoon in Angmering raises £400 for charity

FUN, sun and cream teas combined to raise £400 for charity on Sunday (May 31).

Rob and Anne Lovejoy, of Honey Lane, Angmering, opened their two-acre garden to the public, in a bid to help support the Arun Counselling Service, based at Dove Lodge, Beach Road, Littlehampton.

The couple are both trained horticulturists, and more than 50 people turned out to see the many unusual plants and trees, as well as try their luck on the tombola, enjoy some refreshments and have a swim in the couple's 40ft indoor pool.

Anne said: "We were very lucky with the weather, which was very sunny, and everybody seemed so happy.

"The children were all in the swimming pool, and there is plenty of space for them to run around. They were having a lovely time."

She has been a trustee of the charity, which offers affordable counselling for people with mental health problems, for about four years.

"I have so much sympathy for people affected, it is a very good cause. The charity charges whatever the person can afford," said Anne.
