Supermarket raiders grab £3,000 from 38 tills

THIEVES grabbed £3,000 worth of cash in just 15 minutes during an early morning raid at Sainsbury's in Worthing.

Two thieves broke through a side door at the Lyons Farm store at around 2.45am on Tuesday and managed to break into 38 tills in just 15 minutes. They snatched approximately 3,000 in cash and caused 700 worth of damage.

Charlotte Shelley went to store at around 8am on Tuesday, only to find it closed with police outside.

"It was fairly obvious there must have been a break in because of what was going on up there," she said. "Everything was closed off and there were men in white coats going in and out."

A police spokesperson said: "We are making enquires and forensic scientists have been up to Sainsbury's. We have been working with Sainsbury's to give them crime prevention advice."
