Support Rod at Bewl Water

The aim is to climb Mount Kilimanjaro but first fundraiser Rod Bailey has to get there.

On his way he is going to trek around Bewl Water and he is appealing to other hearty walkers to take part the event to raise money for Cancer Research.

The Bewl Water trek will take place on Sunday June 21 and is 12.5 miles around the reservoir beginning at 8.45am - walkers are however requested to arrive at least half an hour early at Bewl Water which is near Lamberhurst on the A21. It is hoped each walker will raise 100 in sponsorship.

The manager of Cancer Research Uk in Western Road, Rod needs 4,000 if he is to head to Africa to tackle the world's highest freestanding mountain.

He was inspired by the achievements of the BBC Comic Relief team and now wants to reach the summit himself to raise money for Cancer Research.
