Support St Barnabas restoration

As St Barnabas Church now seems safe from demolition, The Friends of St Barnabas are appealing to anyone who would like to support its restoration to join them.

The Friends are looking for new members and welcome all who have affection for this landmark building even though they may not be involved in the religious life of the church.

Membership is open to anyone who would like to join The Friends in their aim of raising funds for the repair and maintenance of the building.

Membership forms are available from the church in Sea Road, or from Best Sellers bookshop in St Leonards Road, and the Indoor Market Bookshop in Western Road.

The Friends are promoting a programme of afternoon talks, tabletop sales and concerts which they hope will offer something for everyone.

The first event is an evening to toe-tapping music from Bexhill Jazz Works on October 23 at 7.30pm at St Barnabas Church.

In November there will be a piano recital and just before Christmas everyone is invited to join in Carol singing in the churchyard.

Further programme details are attached to the membership form.

The programme for next year is currently being finalised but some of these events may be subject to change as repair work will need to be carried out on the church building in the early part of 2010.

The Friends would be delighted to see any new faces at these events and tickets for Jazz In The Church will be available from Best Sellers from early October.

The Committee would like to thank all those who have supported the formation of this association with particular thanks to SBS Consumables in London Road, Best Sellers, and the Indoor Market Bookshop.
