Support wanted for revived Seaford Motorfest

Preparations are under way for Seaford Motorfest which will make a welcome return to the Martello Fields this summer.

Organisers the Seaford Community Events committee are appealing for sponsors for the revived event and businesses to advertise in the programme.

It will take place on Sunday August 23 from 11am to 8pm and feature classic motorbikes, cars, stalls, fun fair and live music,

The day will begin with a motorbike ride out from Newhaven McDonalds at 11.15am to the Martello Fields on Seaford seafront.

The group is also appealing for motor stories or pictures to use in the programme.

Event spokesperson Luella Rolph said: “All proceeds will be going back into our committee to enable us to put on more events in the future.

“Also we will be making a donation to The Mayor’s Charity for that year.

“Any support you can give us to make this Motorfest a huge success will help us put on more family events for the people of Seaford.”

The group is also looking for volunteer marshals to help with car parking.

These can be two hourly slots for volunteers to have collection buckets for a charity or voluntary group.

The Motorfest is just one of a number of exciting events being planned for Seaford this year.

The Waifs and Strays Dog Show will also take place at the Martello Fields on Saturday May 23.

The circus will visit Martello Fields from May 28 until May 30 and the Rude Mechanical Theatre Co will drop into Crouch Gardens on June 6.

Seahaven Veterans and Armed Forces Day, with The Royal Society of St George will take place at the Martello Fields on June 27 and a triathlon will take place on July 4.

The Blind Veterans Dash of Colour event visits on July 19 at Seaford Promenade and there will be a family fun day in the Martello Fields on the same day.
