Surge of hopefuls causes Rox to close registrations

The helpers behind the Rox music and arts weekend were reluctant to close the door to any more performers.

But a spokesman said a record number of applications for this year’s free seafront festival on July 27 and 28, with 300-plus artists, meant the decision had to be taken.

It was time-consuming, as well as enjoyable, for the small team of volunteers working unpaid in their own time to view the hundreds of the audio and visual artistes’ sites of the would-be performers.

“Subsequently, we only have time to contact the successful applicants. Then we can arrange their day and timing, their equipment and stage requirements and festival maps and passes,” he said.

“If you do not hear from us, please do not make contact to discover how your application was received. We cannot deal with every applicant on a personal basis.

“To everybody who has applied to Rox since the 2012 festival, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your interest and support of our charitable purpose to promote music and arts in the community.

“Your response, as usual, has been phenomenal and is an inspiration to all of us involved in the organisation.”

Performers interested in the ROX mobile Bognor Regis events schedule 2013 to 2015, any local bookings and function opportunities, Rox In The Park next spring or next year’s free festival should continue to update their registration details regularly.
