Surprise award for Bexhill College student

A delighted Bexhill College student has been awarded an Entry Scholarship to Reading University '“ and the first she knew of it was as she sat down at breakfast time to open her post.

Antonia Warrick, who finished her Health Studies course this summer, was completely unaware that she had been selected for the award.

Antonia said "I leave for Reading (University) on Sunday, but received a letter from Reading to say that I have been awarded an Entry Scholarship for 2009.

"I won the scholarship due to getting three distinctions on my College course. I knew nothing about the scholarship so was quite shocked to find out about it."

Antonia's windfall will go towards studying her Speech and Language degree at Reading. She will be presented with a certificate to mark her achievements at a ceremony in December.

Speaking to Harriet Eldridge, Head of Childhood Studies, Health and Technology, Antonia expressed her gratitude for all the help she had received from staff at Bexhill College: "I want to thank you once again for your excellent teaching and support, please pass my thanks on to all the other tutors."
