Suspect sexually assaults Worthing child outside shop

AN INVESTIGATION has been launched after a child from Worthing was sexually assaulted outside a clothes shop.

The incident occurred at about 3.30pm on Saturday, May 16, outside the H&M clothes shop in Western Road, Brighton.

The 15-year-old victim and her companion, another girl aged 15, were walking along Western Road towards Churchill Square.

A man described as Asian, in his 30s, 5ft 7ins to 5ft 8ins tall, and of chubby build, approached the girl from behind, grabbed her bottom and made an obscene remark.

He was said to have spoken with an Indian or Pakistani accent.

PC Daniel Marshall, of the Worthing Response Investigation Team, said: “The victim has been left very shaken and upset by this incident and is worried it could have happened to others.”
