Sussex businesses encouraged to celebrate workplace learning

Local businesses and organisations are being urged to nominate their star workplace learners for the Sussex Learning Awards.

These awards culminate with presentations at Eastbourne Town Hall on May 23 and nominations close next week.

Linked with the national Learning at Work week, co-founder of the Sussex Learning Awards Laura Murphy said, “The event celebrates the huge variety of learning that goes on in the workplace and the benefits that employers and employees gain from it.

Last year’s event was very successful and this year, thanks to generous sponsorship, there’s also a wide programme of free networking and learning events during the week of 20 – 24 May.

Events range from how to remember facts and figures whilst sampling wine, to an “on the couch” session where the secrets of a hugely successful entrepreneur will be revealed. Spaces are limited though so you need to book early.”

The Individual and Organisational Awards are open to any Sussex based business or organisation.

National Learning at Work day is organised by the Campaign for Learning and forms part of the National Adult Learners Week which runs from May 20-24.

National Learning at Work day has been running since 1999, this year focuses on ‘many ways to learn’.

The Campaign for Learning believe that workplace learning is more important than ever, as a way to ensure organisations continue to thrive in the downturn
