A mum-of-four is appealing for help after a much-loved family VW camper van was stolen last week.
The van – known as Aggie due to its distinctive number plate AGX 831Y – was stolen from Herstmonceux on Friday (October 30) morning sometime between 10am and noon.
The bright purple van daubed with yellow and purple flowers contained dozens of children’s toys including a young girl’s irreplaceable toy rabbit.
The van’s owner Laura MacGowan, 39, from Pevensey Bay said, “I’m shocked anyone would steal it.
“It would have been pretty obvious this was a family van as it was full of toys and children’s things.
“The kids are very upset it has gone and they took all their toys with them as well.”
The theft of the van was discovered as the family set off for a day trip to Seaford on Friday only to find the van missing from a yard in Church Lane, in Flowers Green.
The family – with four children aged nine, seven, four and two – had been planning to visit the town for a Halloween treat but had to cancel their plans after the theft.
The van has a very distinctive paint job – purple with a white roof and is daubed with yellow and purple flowers on its roof and sides.
They believe the van may have had its number plates changed but think its distinctive paint work should make it easy to spot.
They have launched an appeal on Facebook and hope someone may have seen it being driven away from the scene or parked up nearby.
Laura said, “We have spent a lot of time and money on the van and are very upset it has been stolen. It is not exactly inconspicuous so we are hoping we might be able to get it back.”
The family ask anyone who may have seen the van to call police on 101.
