A Sussex man will appear in court next month to face charges relating to a fatal collision near Uckfield last year.

Daniel Christopher Heffer, 27, a Tarmac layer, of Ashengate Way, Five Ash Down, is to appear before Brighton magistrates on Thursday, August 25.

Sussex Police say he is to face charges relating to a fatal collision at Coopers Green Road, Maresfield, near Uckfield, on November 28 last year.

The person who died was a pedestrian, 35-year-old Michael Robert Shepherd, of High Street, Buxted.

Mr Heffer answered bail on Sunday (July 24) and was charged with being the driver of a vehicle which failed to stop after a road accident and failing to report a road accident.

He will also face charges of using a vehicle - a Volkswagen Golf - in a condition likely to cause danger of injury and possessing cannabis, a Class B controlled drug.

He was further bailed to await his appearance in court.

He was released without charge on counts of causing death by driving without due care and driving while unfit through drugs.
