Sussex MS charity needs London Marathon runner

A CHARITY supporting people with multiple sclerosis is appealing for someone to take part in the London Marathon on its behalf.

The Sussex MS Treatment Centre, based on Southwick Recreation Ground, in Southwick, has been granted a place in the marathon but so far has been unable to find anyone to fill the position.

Deputy manager Joanna Hedges said: “Our problem is, we will loose the charity place if we can not fill it by the new year.”

She said the marathon spot was a “fantastic opportunity” for the charity, which receives no government funding and provides support to around 500 people from across Sussex.

“It will be such a huge loss for us and our potential fund-raising next year if we can not find a runner,” said Joanna.

“We are trying every avenue to find someone who would be able to run and be a big fund-raiser for the charity.”

She said they were looking for a “very special charity champion” to run the marathon.

Anyone who thinks they would be able to run the marathon on behalf of the Sussex MS Treatment Centre can email [email protected] or 01273 594484.
